Dunedin's Libby Scott, partnered by Heidi Stewart (Waikato) has won the doubles title at the Sydney International ITF junior tennis tournament.
Seeded eighth, the Kiwi pair reached the final without dropping a set and beat an Australian pair 7-6, 2-6, 10-5 in the final.
In the singles, Scott won through two rounds before losing to eighth seed Annabelle Andrinopoulos, while Stewart made it a round further before losing in the quarterfinals.
Because doubles are combined with singles in junior world rankings Scott's efforts will see her rise, although her opportunities to date have been limited by her continuing to attend school, unlike a number of the world's leading juniors.
Scott has a goal of gaining a tennis scholarship to an American college and she will next compete in a tournament in Gosford.
