Arborists fell poplars at King’s High School yesterday.

About 50 of the old trees, which stood at the boundary of the school, had internal rot.

King’s High School board of trustees chairman Richard Wingham said the trees had been identified as hazardous.

‘‘They were old and needed to be removed.’’

All neighbouring residents were informed.
