After a night of Jazz in Ranfurly on Friday, Central Otago's Jazz and Jocks event moved on Saturday to Cromwell for a gala day and rugby match at Anderson Park.

It seemed the light rain did not dampen anyone's spirits as they lined up for whitebait patties, hot chips and even sushi, poked through the market stalls, sampled Central Otago wine or enjoyed a hot coffee.

Children enjoyed the bouncy slide, Thomas the Tank Engine rides, pony rides and a fire engine.

The 12.30pm curtain-raiser between the Cromwell Angels and the Maniototo Magettes was won by the Angels, 32-25.

Players in the feature game included former Warriors player Whetu Taewa, former Highlanders Nick Moore and Brendon Timmins, former All Black Paul Miller and former All White Blair Scoullar for Whetu's Fellas.

Players for Brendan's Boys included former Highlanders Romi Ropati and Davin Heaps, former Scotland and Highlander player Brendan Laney, former Wallaby Rob Lawton, former Black Cap Shayne O'Connor and Central Otago Mayor Tony Lepper.

Whetu's Fellas won the game 44-36.
