41st Dunedin Marathon

The 41st Dunedin Marathon will be held on Sunday 1 September 2019 – so what better reason to get Dad and the family out on Fathers Day.  The historic course was successfully changed in 2018, and 2019 is nipping at the heels of being the biggest ever Dunedin Marathon – every entry counts! 2019 see’s the introduction of a 5km fun run & walk event, open to all ages; as well as a 10km Run and Walk, Half Marathon Run and Walk, the Athletics New Zealand Half Marathon champs, and a full 42.2km Marathon – following the stunning Dunedin Harbour from the Albatross Colony, right round to finish inside Forsyth Barr Stadium.

The course will show off some of Dunedin’s beautiful landscape, including alongside the picturesque harbour, through the Botanic Gardens and University, and finishing with a lap of the pitch of the Forsyth Barr Stadium.

Once you’ve crossed the Finish Line, we’ll have live entertainment, food trucks, massage, showers & a bouncy castle for the kids – it’s a fun day out for the whole family!

In 2018 we introduced a Charity platform, giving participants the opportunity to run for a charity of their choice – and the result was upwards of a whopping $20,000 for charities such as Ronald McDonald House, the Mental Health Foundation, Otago Community Hospice, and the Red Cross.

There’s an event for everyone – rally up your friends, find a running buddy, and get ready for the biggest running event on Dunedin’s calendar. Finishers from every event will get a shiny medal for their efforts also – you won’t want to miss it!
