The Longest Day is an engaging way to support a meaningful cause.
Do you love golf? If so, then Longest Day Golf Challenge is the thing for you!
And if you don’t play but you know someone who does, please share the word about this tee-rific challenge.
The challenge is to successfully complete a golf marathon - four rounds of golf, or 72 holes - in one day to raise funds for New Zealanders facing cancer.
Does 72 sound like too much? Try the new two-round ‘half marathon’ option, that’s 36 holes.
You don’t have to be a golf pro. The Longest Day Golf Challenge is for everyone who loves a day on the green.
Players usually tee off at sunrise and play through to sunset, making the most of the daylight on the longest days of the year.
Create a team or go solo for your longest day of golf this summer; players can choose the day and the course.
Book your challenge day directly with your favourite club and mention that you’re participating in the Longest Day Golf Challenge for the Cancer Society!
Most clubs are incredible in what they offer you in support of the wonderful cause that you are supporting, such as waived green fees and discounted cart hire.
Every day 74 New Zealanders are diagnosed with cancer. Every donation received will go towards cancer research, prevention and support services for people who need it the most.
No one should go through their cancer journey alone. Whether it is free access to important resources including specialist advice and information, transport to treatment, and accommodation when undergoing treatment far from home, funding cancer prevention policy and life-saving cancer research - the Cancer Society is there.
But they can’t do this without your help, so let’s make Longest Day Golf Challenge 2024 the best year yet!
The Otago Golf Club have a goal of raising $20,000 and are nearly halfway there!
The challenge combines strength and community spirit to raise vital funds for cancer care and research.
Whether you’re a seasoned golfer or simply passionate about making a difference, the Longest Day provides an engaging way to support a meaningful cause, while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow participants.
The Cancer Society know you don’t do it for the rewards, but there are some pretty cool ones available as you reach fundraising milestones including a Cancer Society branded golf towel, golf ball holder and Titleist Pro V1 golf balls.
The longest day of the year is Saturday December 21, but you can pick any day in December or January to complete your challenge. Playing in teams of two to four is recommended, to hasten the play. This is a true test of your endurance, but 36 or 72 holes is just more fun with friends!
So dust off your golf clubs and get ready for The Longest Day Golf Challenge!
