The departing Highlander will be presented with a rather large parting gift after the game against the Bulls at Forsyth Barr Stadium tonight.
The classy All Black outside back has signed with French club Pau and will leave New Zealand following the World Cup.
But if the player nicknamed Bender was thinking he could sneak away without much fanfare, he was mistaken.
The folk at Lion have arranged a Banner for Bender.
It has been on display on the wall at the Speight's Brewery in Rattray Street and people have been encouraged to leave a message for the Highlanders' most capped player.
He has pulled on the jersey 152 times but has not played since injuring his hamstring at the beginning of May.
"We've been proud sponsors of the Highlanders since their first year, and it has been awesome watching Bender's career unfold," Lion's regional sales manager Nigel Smith said.
"We wanted to show our support and let locals get involved with the Banner for Bender.
"It has been great seeing the messages from the public. We wish him all the best for his next step and his move to France."
