Both the men's and women's winners came from Canterbury.
Men's winner Kazuma Kobori had a resounding seven-stroke victory.
He went round the St Clair course for a four-round total of 270, 14-under par.
He has been in good form of late and started on Saturday with a 68 and 66.
While playing on Saturday he hit two shots straight in the hole from more than 50m away from the green.
He kept up the good shooting yesterday and hit a 65 in the morning.
Five shots ahead going into the final round, he played a conservative round and hit a par 71 to win by seven shots.
Chasing him all the way was Matt McLean, of Harewood who shot rounds of 67,69 and 68 in the first three rounds and had a sniff of victory going into the final round.
He would have had to have shot a great last round and that - unfortunately for him - was not the case.
McLean, who had won the Otago strokeplay title at Balmacewen last month, hit a disappointing 73, two over par.
Inia Logan was the best of the Otago players, although he was 17 shots behind Kobori. He did have the best round yesterday afternoon, hitting a 69.
The winner of the women's title was Hyun Jeong Lee, of Christchurch, who shot 282 over the four rounds. She finished five shots ahead of her club mate Ruon Lee.
Only four women golfers from Otago entered.
The tournament also doubled as the Dunedin strokeplay tournament.
