Power was cut at about 12.40pm and has been restored at about 1.20pm, although it is not known how many houses were affected by the outage and how many have had power restored.
A planned outage for today in the Marslin St, Alexandra area for a power pole replacement was publicised on the Aurora Energy website but it is not known if that was linked to the wider outage.
The 12.40pm outage affected households throughout Alexandra, including in the Centennial Ave and Tarbert St areas.
An Aurora spokesman had no information about the 12.40pm outage, but its website was updated to say it was an "unplanned outage" due to "repairs".
