Fire and Emergency New Zealand staff were called to the incident at 7.16pm in Mitchell Ave.
After rescuing the elderly driver, fire crews righted the Honda and pushed it to the side of the road.
A Volkswagen parked on the side of Mitchell Ave was also damaged in the incident.
The man in the Honda was treated by ambulance staff. His condition was not known.
