Dog dies in Ranfurly fire

Fire officers regroup after a house fire in Thomas St, Ranfurly, yesterday afternoon. The house was severely damaged.

Firefighters were called to the Thomas St house about 2.30pm and the fire took about 20 minutes to put out.

Two fire units from Ranfurly and one from Naseby attended, as well as police from Omakau.

Ranfurly Volunteer Fire Brigade Senior Station Officer Greg Baddock said no-one was inside the house at the time.

However, a dog died in the fire.

The cause of the fire was unknown but would be investigated, Mr Baddock said.
