A Hyundai Getz rental vehicle (left) and a Honda Domani were extensively damaged in the incident about 10.50am, at the intersection of State Highway 6 and Maori Jack Rd.
Two people were taken to Lakes District Hospital to be assessed, but were not seriously injured.
