Dunedin BMX Club president Simon Heptonstall is fuming after a motorcycle rider tore up the club's track a day after work was completed.

Volunteers from the club spent Saturday sealing part of the track at Forrester Park and preparing other sections for testing ahead of seal going down.

However, some of that was undone by a motorcyclist using the track in the wet on Sunday.

``They don't know how much time and money goes into it, and they go and do something like that,'' Mr Heptonstall said.

``The track is for mountain bikes and BMX only - it's that simple.''

The damage would take a team of volunteers a morning to repair.

``We have just finished the start [of the track],'' he said.

``We were going to race it to make sure the corners were right and once they were right we were going to tarseal them.

``But we are going to have to do some repairs now before we can do that.

``This is going to have to be raked out, flattened and filled.''

He did not want to fence the track off ``because then it's not a community facility''.

``I'm just frustrated and annoyed that volunteers' work is destroyed by people not thinking.''
