
A private district plan change, requested by the new owners, has attracted four submissions — three in support and one opposed.
The Central Otago District Council will soon seek further submissions on the views already raised.
There would be a hearing early in the new year, council planning and environment manager Louise van der Voort said.
The plan change requested would convert the 5.8ha site on the south side of the intersection of McNulty Rd and State Highway 6 from rural resource to industrial resource zoning.
In July, some farmers spoke out about the sale of the saleyards, objecting to the loss of the facility.
One of them, Tarras farmer Beau Trevathan, said the sale to property developers was "bizarre".
The nearest saleyards were in Omakau, and Omarama, which was more than 100km away, he said.
