Two Dunedin men, aged 38 and 39, have been arrested on burglary and firearms-related charges after a month-long police investigation.
A woman aged 34 has also been charged in relation to a large firearms burglary in the city on October 25.
All three will appear in the Dunedin District Court on Friday.
Police executed five search warrants at residential addresses in Dunedin and one in Auckland today. Other warrants have been executed in recent weeks in Dunedin, Gore and Christchurch.
Police have recovered five firearms and approximately 3000 rounds of ammunition that were taken in the burglary. There are still 23 firearms outstanding.
Inquiries are continuing and police have not ruled out further arrests.
“It is of great concern that some of the firearms stolen may have ended up in the hands of criminal gangs throughout New Zealand and police will continue to put a lot of effort into attempting to recover them,” Detective Sergeant Dave Nelson said.
