He is back in the city for the New Zealand Cricket Umpires and Scorers Association
annual meeting and conference at the University Oval this weekend.
"It is going well," Eden-Whaitiri said.
"I’ve only been [in the job] three months but it has all been happening, particularly with the top-end umpiring. We made some decisions around our international panel and there were three changes made to that panel with the promotion of Shaun Haig, Chris Brown and Wayne Knights.
"That took up a bit of my time when I first started.
"I also attended an ICC international umpires managers conference in South Africa, so that was good from a networking, relationship point of view with my colleagues around the world."
He has also been busy with contracting, scheduling and making domestic cricket appointments.
Eden-Whaitiri, who was the Otago Rugby Football Union’s referee development manager, said the annual conference had been running since the 1970s and he only had a limited role during the weekend.
"It is a weekend of training, development and networking with umpires and scorers all across Dunedin. This is my first conference, so I’m just here to observe and let the NZCUSA drive the weekend."
