A Murchison dairy herd manager has admitted the illegal discharge of effluent.
Simon Murray Boyer appeared in Nelson District Court yesterday and pleaded guilty to seven charges, including three that involved discharging effluent in a manner that could have resulted in effluent entering an unnamed stream that flowed directly into the Matakitaki River.
The Marlborough Express reported the offending happened between May and September last year and charges were brought by Tasman District Council.
Boyer was herd manager at Matakitaki Station, owned by Awarua Farm (Marlborough) Ltd, which itself faces two charges. Farm directors Philip John Woolley and Suzanne May Woolley, of Tuamarina, also appeared in court, facing eight and two charges respectively related to the discharge of effluent.
They denied the charges, and will reappear, along with Boyer, on May 11.
