Pier suggestion for St Clair

Why doesn't this new Mayor of yours Aaron Hawkins generate some traction on having a pier like the one Brighton has in Christchurch?

You have only got to go there to see how popular it is with the public .

It could it double as a fix to the sand degradation of St Clair beach as it may work as groynes do by breaking up the breakers as they come crashing in.

Otherwise a breakwater as has been done at Oamaru Harbour.
