I have recently stumbled across the Otago Daily Times' account of the 1923 wedding of Norman and Dorothy Haggitt.
I knew them both well when I lived in Belmont Lane during the War.
Every evening after work and on his way home in Moana Crescent, Norman would call in for a drink with my widowed grandmother. He was an avuncular fellow and I was fond of "Dossie", his wife; Rufus the dog was a particular chum.
Their son, Michael Haggitt, followed his father into the law and I remember spending hours cleaning parts of his 3-litre Bentley which he kept in a Belmont garage.
Just a few of many treasured memories of living in Dunedin 80 years ago.
