Social Development Minister Paula Bennett hopes to be back at work this week after recovering from respiratory problems that put her in hospital over the weekend.
Ms Bennett was admitted to Waitakere Hospital on Friday after feeling unwell with bronchitis all week. Her doctor diagnosed she also had pneumonia.
A spokeswoman said she was discharged from hospital yesterday and was now recovering at home.
"She's doing light duties and hopes to be back at work by the end of the week."
Staff at Waitakere Hospital had been "fantastic", the spokeswoman said.
