A Taranaki man posing as a youth counsellor has been found guilty of sexually abusing four male youths in his care.
A jury in the High Court at New Plymouth today found Peter Robert Jordan, 64, of Waitara, guilty of 26 charges of sexually violating and indecently assaulting the youths, between 1986 to 2007.
He was found not guilty on another seven charges after the jury deliberated for 8-1/2 hours following a week-long trial.
The Crown told the court Jordan had abused the victims at time when they needed his protection and help.
The victims said he plied them with alcohol and drugs.
Jordan denied the charges and said any sexual activity he had engaged in was consensual with youths over 16.
He was remanded for sentencing on April 8 with the Crown expected to call for preventive detention.
