A 15-year-old youth was today arrested and charged in connection with the assault of a man who was pushed into the path of a moving taxi in Napier last month.
The 34-year-old victim was left in a critical condition when pushed into the side of the taxi van after being attacked by a group of three men on a footpath in Milton Road, about 1.30am on Sunday, February 15.
Detective Emmet Lynch told NZPA police searched a home in Marewa, Napier, at 7.25am.
The youth was interviewed about his involvement in the assault.
"He has now been arrested and charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm to the 34-year-old complainant," Mr Lynch said.
The youth appeared in Napier Youth Court this morning and was remanded in custody to re-appear on March 26.
Mr Lynch said police were looking for two other people involved in the assault and hoped to find them soon.
