A young Hawke's Bay woman is due in court for allegedly hacking into a schoolgirl's social network website.
Police allege the 19-year-old hacked into the Cambridge girl's Bebo and hotmail accounts and changed the passwords.
Police national e-crime manager Maarten Kleintjes said accessing another person's internet accounts without specific authorisation was an offence under the Crimes Act.
It carries a maximum penalty of seven year imprisonment.
The alleged hacker is due to appear in Hastings District Court next month.
