Two people are in a serious condition following a head-on collision in the Bay of Plenty.
Emergency services freed the two trapped drivers from their vehicles after the accident this morning at the intersection of State Highway 2 and Manoeka Road, just north of Te Puke, about 25km east of Tauranga.
They were taken to Tauranga Hospital by ambulance, a St John Ambulance spokeswoman told NZPA.
Police said the road would be closed for about two hours and diversions were in place, but were not suitable for heavy vehicles.
