Two men accused of the murder of 16-year-old Sean Finnerty-Gallagher in the Auburn Reserve in Christchurch will go on trial in October.
A four-week trial is set to start on October 12.
The date was set at a pre-trial call-over before Justice Graham Panckhurst in the High Court at Christchurch today, the Christchurch Court News website reported.
Thomas Tihema Christie, 25, and Sonny Avon Rehu, 31, both unemployed, remain in custody after their July trial date was abandoned at the request of the defence.
The police alleged the teenager received a beating after a drinking session at the Upper Riccarton park during the night of February 12 to 13 2008.
He was found lying dead in the park next morning.
It was suggested he had been knocked unconscious and death resulted from asphyxia caused by the combination of the way he was lying with his airways partly blocked by blood, and the fact that he was very intoxicated - his blood-alcohol level was nine times the legal driving limit for a person his age.
