A Kaitaia woman charged with the murder of her two-year-old daughter in August has been remanded in custody to appear in the Whangarei High Court for callover on February 11 next year.
Norefjell Davis, 34, was excused attendance when her case was called in the Kaitaia District Court today. She is in custody and has entered no plea.
Davis had initially been charged with assault following the death of the toddler, but after investigations by Far North and Auckland police, the charge against her was upgraded to murder.
The little girl died in Auckland's Starship Hospital on August 8 after being flown south from Kaitaia Hospital, where she had been taken that day with what police said were serious injuries.
