Police hope to speak to injured Christchurch teen

Christchurch police hope to speak to a teenager this week about how he received critical head injuries.

A caretaker found the 18-year-old lying in Gloucester Street near Chancery Arcade, about 7am on Friday.

He was admitted to Christchurch Hospital's intensive care unit in a critical condition.

Detective Senior Sergeant David Harvey said today the teenager remained in the ICU but his condition had improved and it was hoped he could tell them what happened this week.

Police are still appealing to anyone in area at the time to contact them.
