One man guilty of MacDonald murder

A jury found one man guilty and his co-accused not guilty of murder after fewer than four hours deliberation in the High Court at Blenheim today.

Aaron James Harvey, 35, was found guilty of the murder of Carl MacDonald.

Corey William Mackle, 30, Peter Christopher Tait, 49, and Jason David Warren, 27, were found not guilty.

All four men were charged with murder and unlawful assembly following a dispute outside the Lone Legion Clubhouse on September 15 last year.

Mr MacDonald was shot after an argument between two groups at the house that day and died later in hospital.

The jury of eight men and four women spent this afternoon deliberating and returned to give their verdict just before 6pm.
