One person was killed in a crash between a light truck and a car on SH2 in the Bay of Plenty this morning.
Police and emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the highway in Te Puke just before 11am this morning, said fire services shift commander Colin Underdown.
"It was a two-car motor vehicle accident and there was one fatality.''
He said fire services have left the scene, and police are investigating the fatal accident.
State Highway 2 east of Te Puke is closed and diversions are in place.
Sergeant Mark Holmes said the state highway would remain closed until further notice.
