A man is dead after a crash north of Matamata last night.
The driver of a car died after crashing into a power pole on Harding Rd in Turangaomoana, about 9km north of Matamata, said northern fire communications shift manager Colin Underdown.
Mr Underdown said the person was dead when emergency services arrived, when called to the scene at 9:30pm last night.
An ambulance communications spokesperson said the deceased was believed to be a male.
He said the age was unknown.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
