A man was to appear in court today over the death of another man outside a Blenheim nightclub in August.
Matthew Patrick Heagney, 24, died in Blenheim's Wairau Hospital after he suffered head injuries outside Shapeshifters bar about 2.40am on August 23.
Today Detective Sergeant John Hamilton said Blenheim detectives had made an arrest this morning and a man would appear today in Christchurch District Court on charge of manslaughter.
"The arrest comes about after an extensive enquiry and careful consideration of the facts," Mr Hamilton said.
It is expected that the man would be remanded on bail to appear next in Blenheim District Court.
