A man appeared in Kaikohe District Court this afternoon in connection with a stabbing in the Northland town early on Saturday.
As a result of a call from a member of the public, police said 27-year-old Raman Pouwhare was found at a house on the outskirts of Kaikohe this morning.
He was arrested and charged with wounding with intent and aggravated burglary.
At his court appearance Pouwhare made no plea and was remanded in custody to re-appear in Kaikohe District Court on February 19.
The charges follow the stabbing of a 19-year-old man who found several men going through his property at his Tawa Street home about 3.30am on Saturday and chased them.
The alleged victim suffered stab wounds to his stomach and tongue when he confronted one of the men.
