Man admits child porn charges

A 57-year-old Christchurch man has admitted 20 charges of possessing internet child pornography.

Criss Robert Outram, a retail salesman, was remanded at large for sentence on April 17, after pleading guilty before Judge Noel Walsh in Christchurch District Court today.

Judge Walsh asked for a pre-sentence report and a report on Outram's suitability for home detention but said that was no indication of the outcome.

Defence counsel Simon Shamy handed two character references to the court after Outram admitted the charges.

Internal Affairs investigators found more than 1000 objectionable files on Outram's computer, zip disks, and floppy disks.

Twenty files were cited in the charges to represent the offending. They were internet files that had been gathered over a 10-year period to March 2007.

The charges refer to images depicting the sexual abuse of babies and toddlers, and sexual acts between adult males and pre-teen girls.
