A Kapiti Coast man suffered internal and possible back injuries when a car he was working on fell on his chest tonight.
The accident happened at Paraparaumu, 52km north of Wellington, about 6pm.
The car was on jacks and the 20-year-old man was working under it when the car fell on his chest, pinning him down, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service said tonight.
The Fire Service and Wellington Free ambulance staff were able to free him and took him to Paraparaumu Airport, where the helicopter picked him up and flew him to Wellington Hospital's emergency department.
