Fugitive William Alexander Stewart - the self-styled Billy the Hunted One - was further remanded in custody when he reappeared in Christchurch District Court today.
Stewart, 47, faces a bundle of about 68 charges arising from months on the run around Canterbury from police who repeatedly tried to catch him after he allegedly absconded when an arrest warrant was about to be executed.
He told the court a fortnight ago that he planned to defend all the charges and signalled that he wanted to be remanded until today to get himself a lawyer, the Christchurch Court News website reported.
But the again spoke for himself in court today, telling Judge John Bisphan he had arranged a lawyer but the paperwork was still going through.
He was further remanded in custody to July 8.
