A 14-year-old cyclist is in a serious but stable condition in Wellington Hospital after he was hit by a vehicle in Lower Hutt yesterday while not wearing a helmet.
The Lower Hutt boy was struck on Waiwhetu Road, Lower Hutt and was airlifted to Hospital about 4.30pm.
Police were still investigating the accident but he did not appear to have been wearing a helmet, Senior Sergeant Scott Cooper said.
