Wendy-May Connon, the woman convicted of the manslaughter of her four-year-old son in a high-speed car crash last year, is in trouble again.
The 40-year-old pleaded guilty in Masterton District Court yesterday to possessing cannabis and instruments for using drugs.
She is on bail pending a review of her community detention sentence imposed in September, The Dominion Post reported. The court was told police found the drugs when they searched Connon's bedroom in a Masterton house on October 16. Judge Tom Broadmore convicted Connon and ordered her to come up for sentence if call upon within six months. Connon spent a night in custody last month for breaching her night-time curfew.
The Corrections Department wanted the community detention sentence Connon received for her manslaughter conviction cancelled and another sentence imposed.
She will appear in the High Court at Wellington on November 16 for a hearing.
Connon smoked cannabis before getting behind the wheel of her car last January with three children aged four, five and 10, none of whom were in child restraints. The court was told the car had been doing about 140kmh before it went out of control on an easy bend, killing four-year-old Konrad and seriously injuring the other two children.
