A wealthy Hamilton businessman has appeared in court on sex charges.
The prominent man, who has been granted interim name suppression, faces common assault, unlawful sexual intercourse and rape charges when he appeared in Hamilton District Court this week, The Waikato Times reported.
He was bailed to reappear later this month.
One charge alleges the man had exploitative sexual connection with a person described as having a "significant impairment" in Hamilton between December last year and February.
He also allegedly sexually violated a second woman in Hamilton last month.
