The parents of a Christchurch teenager were in court today when he faced a charge of maiming another youth during an attack with a bottle that cost the victim an eye.
Brent Charles Lamb, 18, was remanded to August 12 by Christchurch District Court Judge Jane Farish, Christchurch Court News website reported.
Defence counsel Allister Davis told the court that both Lamb's parents were in court and that he could be bailed to his father's address.
Judge Farish granted bail on the charge of maiming with intent to cause grievous bodily harm but imposed conditions that Lamb abide by a 7pm to 7am curfew, not drink alcohol, and not associate with the witnesses on a list to be supplied to him by the police.
Police allege the 19-year-old victim was struck in the face with a bottle in the attack in central Christchurch about 3.15am on July 20, and an eye was so badly damaged it had to be removed. The victim is recuperating at home.
