The Armed Offenders Squad was deployed following a family violence incident on the Thornbury-Waimatuku Road in Southland this morning.
Senior Sergeant Maggie Windle, of Invercargill, said the squad was deployed about 7.45am after a woman was assaulted.
A weapon was used during the incident.
A male has been arrested.
