A lucky Lotto player from Feilding is waking up to a $7.2 million boost to their bank account this morning.
The happy punter won the Powerball draw last night, becoming an instant millionaire, and pocketing the cash - made up of $7 million first division and $200,000 second division prizes.
They bought their winning ticket at Feilding Video Centre in Feilding.
The Powerball prize comes less than two weeks after a south Auckland man scooped a $20.2 million Big Wednesday jackpot.
One month ago a Lotto Powerball player in Blenheim won $4.5 million, and a week before that a player from Christchurch quit his job after winning a massive $14.3 million with a ticket purchased in Ashburton.
"To have three big Powerball wins within just a few weeks is pretty exciting for our players," said Lotto NZ's head of corporate communications Emilia Mazur.
"The jackpot really can be struck at any time. We're looking forward to meeting our latest Powerball multi-millionaire."
There were four other Lotto first division winners last night, taking home $200,000 each.
The winning Lotto tickets were sold at Hornby Mall Lotto in Christchurch, New World Te Rapa in Hamilton, Unichem Stortford Lodge Pharmacy in Hastings and Lotto 'N' Things in Oamaru.
Strike Four was also won, by a player in Taupo who pocketed $157,866. The winning ticket was sold at Countdown Taupo.
Meanwhile, Karen from Hamilton spun and won $125,000 with the Winning Wheel on last night's live Lotto draw.
