It became the first team from the South to win a title at the South Island secondary schools development competition.
Thirty-two of the top year 9 teams in the South Island gathered in Christchurch in the first week of the school holidays.
Taieri College played eight games over three days and won the lot, becoming the first Otago side to win the overall trophy since the tournament began 15 years ago.
Coach Karen Rosevear said the side played some outstanding team netball, and kept their composure when under pressure.
They had been playing together at the school since year 7.
After winning its five pool games, the Taieri side beat Southland Girls' High School 35-27 in the quarterfinal. In the semifinal, it beat St Margaret's College 37-26.
In the final, Taieri took on Christchurch Girls' High School, which it had already narrowly beaten in pool play.
In a tense battle, Taieri maintained a lead all game and won 24-22.
Attacker Rachel Beattie and defender Zara Forgie were selected in the tournament team.
The same team had won the Otago title for its year group earlier in the season.
It has been promoted from premier 3 grade in the Dunedin secondary school competition to the premier 2 grade.
