Council contractors Kevin Waters (left) and Phil Wilson (right) work on a new boat ramp after it was towed to its location at Vauxhall Yacht Club on Monday.

A Dunedin City Council spokesman said the old boat ramp at Vauxhall Yacht Club was being repaired as the concrete slabs were breaking up and becoming a hazard.

Repairs would cost $180,000, $110,000 of which was for installation of the new pontoon and piles and the remainder to repair the ramp.

The work was part of the Dunedin City Council’s ongoing asset renewal programme covering upgrading work for wharves, jetties and pontoons around Otago Harbour.
