Senior project manager Jason Forbes said a suite of projects were under way.

Included among the works are (clockwise from bottom left) the construction of the long timber retaining wall through the St Leonards straights, which has been given additional funding to accelerate its construction; the Sawyers Bay overbridge, where work crew prepare the shared path, aiming to complete this section soon; and at Port Chalmers, a specialist crew is starting construction of two further large timber retaining walls to support the path through that area.

Over the coming months, people would see many changes on site, Mr Forbes said.

The path is expected to be fully open early next year.
