Cars slip on frost and partly block Union St west in Dunedin about 10.30am yesterday.

Heavy frost blanketed much of the city's road network.

Senior Sergeant Kelvin Lloyd said police attended a few incidents mid-morning, when the sun had made roads slippery.

A truck jack-knifed in Townleys Rd, near Kaikorai Valley Rd, as a result of ice about 10am, he said.

It blocked some of the road, causing traffic problems.

Police also spent some time in Shetland St dealing with motorists who had problems negotiating the slippery road, Snr Sgt Lloyd said.

''There were no serious incidents, just fender-benders.''
