Past and present members of the Warrington Surf Life Saving Club spent the day on the beach yesterday to celebrate the club's 55th anniversary.
Spokeswoman Pru Casey said a tent was erected on the beach so the older members could watch the junior surf lifeguards compete, and a lunch and afternoon tea was held.
The event also recognised the involvement of the Moana Rua Ladies Surf Life Saving Club in the club's inception.
Some of the older former members also got the old canoes used in rescues out and showed them off while the younger generation took the inflatable rescue boats for a run, she said.
