Mr Davies accepted the award on behalf of a Dunedin group at the New Zealand Search and Rescue awards in Wellington last night.
The group won a certificate of achievement for rescuing nine people from Taieri River floodwaters about midnight on July 21 last year.
The team saved people stranded on top of a 4WD.
The award recognised the work of Mr Davies, James Coombes, Matthew Bradley, Max Corboy, Alan Todd, Michael Trembath, Rhys McAlevey, Seth McPhee, Stefhan Brown and Scott Weatherall.
