The third annual Waitati Music Festival at Bland Park will cater for more than just music fans, organisers say.
About 1000 people were expected to attend, organiser Katie Peppercorn said.
From 11am until 11pm, acts such as Skulldubbery, Olay and Manthyng will keep the crowd entertained and for the first time the festival will feature two stages.
''We have named it [the second stage] Mini Rave,'' she said.
''It's a dance party. It's 12 hours of DJs playing all genres of electronica.''
Organiser Tania Turei said music was not the only drawcard.
''We have got an amazing children's area,'' she said.
''It's going to be great for kids. We have got toys and face paintings and then we have got the art projects. We have something for everybody this year.''
People would have the opportunity to join in art projects during the course of the festival, including creating an LED tree sculpture.
Graffiti artist Aroha Novak would run a workshop and people would have an opportunity to create a mural at the skate park, she said.
''I think this year is going to be the best yet,'' Mrs Turei said.
Entry costs $10 for adults and children are free.
