Police said the vehicle had left Portobello Rd and landed on rocks at the edge of the harbour.
A Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Fenz) spokeswoman said it was first called to the crash about 7.05pm.
The occupants of the vehicle were in the care of ambulance staff when Fenz arrived at the scene, she said.
A St John spokesman said one patient was transported to hospital by ambulance with moderate injuries.

Emergency services were called about 7.40pm. A police spokeswoman said no-one was injured.
