The University of Otago has expanded its land holdings, buying two pieces of land in North Dunedin.
The adjoining properties at 180 and 182 Albany St, stretching from Forth St to Anzac Ave, total 0.5ha in area.
They were bought before Christmas from Chalmers Properties, the property subsidiary arm of Port Otago.
Only the land was bought, university property services director Barry MacKay said yesterday.
In 2007, the university bought the building at 180 Albany St - the former Radio Network broadcasting studios.
The building is now used by the university's contemporary music department.
Mr MacKay said the buildings on 182 Albany St were owned by the Ministry of Education.
The price paid for the land was confidential, he said.
The Dunedin City Council website gives the rateable land value of the properties at just over $1 million: $630,000 for 180 Albany St and $460,000 for 182.
