Further bus hub work could cause disruption for passengers this weekend.

The Otago Regional council is continuing construction work at the Great King St site which began in late May.

Today and tomorrow two stops at the hub will be affected and services will be reallocated.

Services will also be diverted around a closure on St Andrew St between George St and Great King St.

This follows similar work at the hub on Thursday night.

Council Dunedin public transport team leader Julian Phillips said the work was part of a duct replacement.

It was needed to rectify an issue where two short sections of the duct had not been constructed with the correct alignment.

"This is the only project that has been needed since the hub became operational; it is being staged over a number of weekends to minimise weekday impact.

"We also made the call to diverge from the original schedule because of the Midwinter Carnival and other works affecting traffic around the city."

There would be no additional costs to the council.

The hub opened in March.
